Many shoppers in and around Britain are going to find that it is increasingly difficult to find personalised Christmas cards that convey a religious message. Only one in every one hundred personalised Christmas cards has some type of religious message or imagery contained within it. Traditional religious photos including Jesus in the manger, angels blowing trumpets, and the three wise men and shepherds following the single star to Bethlehem are a rare breed. Instead, these religious scenes are being pushed aside in favor of holiday themed designs and jokes that really don't touch upon the religious meaning behind Christmas. So, what's going on? Despite warnings from religious groups in the UK and MPs, the personalised Christmas card industry continues to lose sight of the true reason for the Christmas season.
Some people argue that they opt for non-religious personalised Christmas cards because they do not want to risk offending anyone that does not adhere to the same religion. But if that's the case, why are they celebrating Christmas to begin with? Others say that they buy whatever personalised Christmas cards are readily available, because they don't have the time to hunt down religious themed ones. Bottom line, religious theme personalised Christmas cards are harder to find, so if you want them, you're going to have to look long and hard for them.
